  • San Diego

Well we are here in South California on Camp Pendleton.  I checked in today and we also got our house today.  We decided to go to base housing and when I post pictures youll understand why.  It has a great view of the mountains and is really close to the airbase so I can get to work fast.  And I am already on base so I dont have to commute in California, because I thought Florida drivers were bad.  People here are crazy and dont even look at the road when they drive.  I saw one guy texting and another girl was looking in the mirrors for a while on the interstate.  And there are so many people here that traffic is very congested everywhere.  It is nice and slow here on base, especially where we live.  If you want our address, just email me to get it.  I also see Cobra's, Hueys and 46's flying all day and there is always gunfire in the background.  Very Cool.  Nothing like walking outside and hearing the poping of m-16's followed by artillery and mortar and then the cool thump of rotor blades in the distance.  Kara is doing good, happy to have a house and that our stuff is coming in tomorrow.  Austin is happy to be in California where Lightning McQueen went for the big race and he is happy to see helicopters and trucks and trains and everything else on the base.  He also had fun picking his room (which within 5 minutes he picked each room including the kitchen as his room).  Not much else to talk about.  We had a good trip out, saw some cool stuff and saw amazing parts of the country.  Ill write again soon

  • Winged

I am officially a Naval Aviator as of yesterday.  I was winged by Kara and Austin on July 2nd and am very happy.  It was a great ceremony and my parents and Kara's dad were also there to see the winging.  After the winging we went to a dinner and then Kara and I went to the after party at a place called the Fish House.  It was a very expensive restaurant.  We at dinner just the two of us (first time in a while) and then we went down to the party that my class hosted.  I saw a lot of friends and we both had a very good time.  Today we all went to the Naval Aviation Museum and then to the Mall to get some things and then returned home.  We were planning on going to the fireworks that were tonight, but most everyone but me and Austin are tired and not up to going out more.  So we will go to some tomorrow.  In the morning my parents leave for Wisconsin, I am very happy that they were able to come down and see the winging, and for all that they have done bringing me up and giving me the oportunities that they did.  Next week we are going to be getting busy starting to get the house in order and get a move date and then we are heading to San Diego for my next bit of training.  We will be there probably till after January, then we will be moving over to North Carolina.  Well, Austin wants mor milk, so got to go

  • I found out what I will fly

I selected today and am going to fly the AH-1W Super Cobra out of MCAS New River/Cherry Point.  I will be going to MCAS Camp Pendelton in San Diego for some initial training in the aircraft, then I will transfer over to North Carolina and join my squadron and work up for deployment.  Just updating, most of you all see this stuff on Facebook.  Kara is pretty excited about going to Cali and then to NC, and our good friends are leaving Sat for NC, so it will be nice to meet back up with them.  Kara also has some good friends that are already there, and is anxious to see her again,  well gotta go, watching a movie.

  • All Done

Just wanted to let everyone know that I flew my last flight of flight school on Friday.  I am officially done with flight school and a military pilot.  I will get my wings on July 2nd and just a few days before I will find out what I will fly.  It is going to be a long few weeks until I find out, but that is ok.  Until then I am not sure what I will be doing.  I will probably have to observe some solo flights and some simulator events.  I will also have to do some sort of job, organizational type.  We have plenty of small events that the winging group holds for the squadron and for the ceremony and I will get tasked with at least one of those.  I better get use to it because when I get to the RAG and to my squadron I will have a ground job as well as flying.  Well, got to go

  • 4 more flights

Hi everyone, just wanted to update y'all.  I finished my 2 simulator events for the day, my last two ever as a flight student.  I now have 4 more flights till I am done with flight school.  I have 3 night vision flights and a Search and rescue flight.  I am looking forward to finishing and completing my goal.  It has been a long time chasing this goal and it feels surreal now that I am almost complete.  I am very excited for what the future holds for me.
